The Maxine and Stuart Frankel Director
Cranbrook Academy of Art
Bloomfield Hills, MIFounded in 1932, Cranbrook Academy of Art is one of the leading graduate programs in the country offering degrees in architecture, art, and design. The Director is the lead executive charged with strategic leadership, long-range planning, program oversight, revenue generation and donor stewardship to ensure operational strength, academic excellence, and fiscal sustainability. The Director oversees the senior administrative staff including an Executive Assistant, Deputy Director, Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Programs and Partnerships, Director of Communications, Manager of Enrollment and Financial Aid, Budget Manager, and the Senior Director of Development. The Director reports to the President of Cranbrook Educational Community, collaborates closely with a dedicated Board of Governors and participates as a member of the Presidents senior leadership team. The Academy Director is also responsible for forging external partnerships while serving as the principal fundraiser for the organization.

Haystack Mountain School of Crafts,
Deer Isle, MEFounded in 1950 as an experiment in education and community, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts has convened generations of craftspeople, artists, designers, teachers, makers, and thinkers. The school offers studio workshops to participants of all skill levels and backgrounds; provides space for creation and exploration for makers, artists, and scholars from a variety of fields; and functions as a “think-tank” in looking at craft in broader contexts. As an alternative model of education the experience of being at the school has influenced generations of artists and helped to define a broader field.
